STEP 1: Make moong dal pakodis prior to making the curry. Click on the pic below to go on the recipe page for pakodis. Make them in advance & store in the fridge or freezer depending on when you want to use.
STEP 2: Defrost pakodis if frozen or make fresh as shown above. Soak them in boiling water for 10-15 min. When cool, drain them and squeeze out excess water from each of them. Place them aside for later.
STEP 3: Take 2 tsp oil in a cooker or pan. When hot, add 1tsp cumin seeds & pinch of hing/asafoetida. Add little turmeric pd. Add some beaten curd or yogurt (3-4Tbs) at room temp. & keep stirring on low heat for few min. Add about 1 glass of water, salt to taste & chilli pd. Also 1 slit green chilli. Stir on medium heat till it begins to boil.
STEP 4: Add the pakodis to the curry & keep stirring. After few min. add 1/2 tsp Garam masala & 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves before serving with hot chappatis/rotis.
NOTE: if you like flavor of onion & tomato...then grind small onion & half tomato along with some ginger & add it to the hot oil in step 3 before adding yogurt or curd. Stir constantly to roast it. Cool it a little before adding curd to it. Keep stirring. Add salt & chilli pd. Follow rest of the method as given above.
